Universal Music Group held an online press conference to announce Thai singer, Chinese idol Sunnee’s joining on June 24.

It also marks the beginning of Sunnee’s musical career as an individual. She participated in Produce 101 in 2017 and debuted at No.8 in girl group Rocket Girls 101, which is known as the No.1 female idol group in China. And her final farewell performance with Rocket Girls 101 was on June 23.

At the conference, there were 17 UMG China artists sending blessing videos to Sunnee, including Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang, Hong Kong singer Alan Tam. According to Garand Wu, managing director Universal Music China, Sunnee’s new track “By your side” would be released worldwide on June 26 and her solo album would follow later this year.

Her new song “By your side” is produced by Joseph Park, who is well known for producing songs for popular K-pop groups, such as Twice, GOT7, and NCT. This is a lyrical R&B song. “After listening to the demo, I want to create this song for my fans. The song records all my ups and downs in the past two years. And this was my heartful gift for all of you,” said Sunnee.

Mr Wu expressed his appreciation for Sunnee’s musical talents and said that her music makes a wonderful fusion between C-pop (Cantonese pop) elements and Southeast Asian pop music.

Sunnee said that she was thrilled to start her solo musical career with UMG together, “Working with UMG, what hit me the most, is the uncompromising pursuit of high-quality music.”
