American multimedia production company POW! Entertainment, which is co-founded by legendary comic-book writer Stan Lee, launched its first Stan Lee Comic Universe in Shanghai from October 1 to October 3. During the three-day event, Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment has announced a new original superhero project that is a female superhero character inspired by the global Chinese pop star G.E.M.


Stan Lee and G.E.M. first met in December 2017 in Hong Kong and the pair had a great connection.  After that, Stan Lee’s team decided to develop a new female superhero character inspired by G.E.M. and all of her success and mix with Stan Lee’s creativity named JEWEL.




Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment’s CMO Bob Sabouni shared with Billboard Radio China at Shanghai that “G.E.M. epitomises awe-inspiring talent and girl-power in her strong performances and influential lyrics.” Shane Duffy, CEO of Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment also said of G.E.M. “Turning her into a superhero is a no-brainer.” 


The storyline of character is G.E.M., known to millions worldwide, a successful recording artist who is on her world tour. However, a mysterious incident happens that is connected to her grandmother and charm bracelet she wears where she develops these super powers and needs to keep them hidden. She disguises herself with a costume and calls herself JEWEL as she battles villains with super powers while dealing with her daily life of a pop star on a global tour.


Recently, G.E.M. released her high-anticipated E.P. My Fairytale on August 31 which is the first chapter of G.E.M.’s “Fairytale Trilogy,” each of the three E.P.’s will feature three new songs.
